Website Access

You must be a member of Herodontics.com to access our web site and participate in our social network. If you have not already done so, register today!

Your Profile Page

Your profile represents your Herodontics presence. Fill out as much or as little information as you want. To add information about yourself, simply click the Edit Details text link located in the upper right corner of the Profile information block and add your details and profile icon.

You will note that each entry has a visibility drop menu selector. This menu allows you to set who can "see" your information - private, logged-in users, or public. You will find this feature in every place on our site that involves sharing information.

Configure page Widgets by clicking on the Edit page button.

The Dashboard

The Dashboard is your window into activity across Herodontics web site. When you first arrive on the Dashboard, you will find a blank page. You have the ability to configure page Widgets by clicking on the Edit page button and dragging them to the desired column. When you are finished, click Save.

Widgets

Widgets allow you to track activity and information across Herodontics site as well as information specific to your account, including Groups you belong to. You will note a button in the top right-hand corner of the content area on your Profile and Dashboard pages titled Edit page. This allows you to add or delete the widgets that appear on your Profile and Dashboard pages.

To Add a Widget to one of the three columns, simply click and drag to the desired column, then drop. Once you have configured your widgets exactly the way you want them, click Save.

Tools

The Tools drop menu allows you quick access to all of Herodontics site features.

Settings

Edit your basic account settings at any time.

Groups

Join an existing Group or Create a new Group ... Groups are the heart of Herodontics.com. Start a Group for your practice or join a group established to promote local dental professional gatherings. It's easy.

Invite friends to join, participate in the group Forum, upload Files, or create a Page to address a specific topic. There are no shortage of ways you can use Groups to improve your communication channels.

Case Studies, Blogs, News, Pages

There are multiple ways to participate and create content on Herodontics.com.

Share your latest "heroic" procedure with your peers and put yourself in the running to be honored in our Honorarium.

Start your own Blog
Start your own blog and talk about anything you want.

Read News
Read industry related news and even add your own news links.

Create a Page
Pages are general site content. Have a topic you'd like to discuss? Add a page and engage other site members to leave a comment.

How to Add a News Feed

Select My news feeds in the left column. Click Add new feed from web. Enter the new Feed URL and a Title for the feed, then click Add Feed Now.

How do you find a Feed URL? Let's use a Washington Post link as an example:

• Navigate to the web site. In this example, http://www.washingtonpost.com/
• Locate an RSS feed - at the bottom of the page, note the global RSS text link.
• On the RSS Feeds page, select a topic. Science, for example
• Note the Orange XML icon next to the word "Science".
• Place your cursor over the XML icon and RIGHT CLICK. A menu will appear.
• Select Copy Link Location or similar command.
• Return to Herodontics and paste the link into the Feed URL field.
• Enter your Feed Title and click Add Feed Now.
• Click the new link and any news feeds associated with the link will appear in the content area to the right of the feed list.
